And in summer, I'm a nudist.

In fact the whole of Japan is a pure invention. There is no such country, there are no such people.
- Oscar Wilde, aware in 1889 that popular conceptions about the country and its people are mostly fiction.
Not even 10% of what Japanese people are thinking is communicated overseas.

All foreign correspondents, whenever they desert statistics for judgments of opinion...become models of self-deception. They may call themselves, with proper gravity, ‘reporters’. But...they are nothing but quack psychiatrists who do not even know that this is the field they practise.
- Alistair Cooke
Where all news comes at second-hand, where all the testimony is uncertain, men cease to respond to truths, and respond simply to opinions. The environment in which they act is not the realities themselves, but the pseudo-environment of reports, rumors, and guesses.
- Walter Lippmann
We want...a revolution - a turning of the wheel, so that the state becomes once again the servant of the people, and not the other way around. We are the progressives now, comrades, (and) you the reactionaries.
- Daniel Hannan
If the textbook says, "It is well known that...", you can be sure that is a very good place to begin a research inquiry.
- Isaiah Bowman, geographer and former president of Johns Hopkins University
The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.
- Cicero (55 BC)
We do not need a censorship of the press. We have a censorship by the press. It is not we who silence the press. It is the press that silences us. It is not a case of the Commonwealth settling how much the editors shall say; it is a case of the editors settling how much the Commonwealth shall know. If we attack the press, we shall be rebelling, not repressing.

LOL. But there are hundreds of reasons to doubt good job by current government and TEPCO. I attribute this to their outlook. LOL.
Seriously, I am checking radios daily, both air and water. Unless another blow or heavy rain occurs, the density would not rise. My family enjoyed hanami yesterday. I do it alone in the midnight hour when I walk back home from Kagurazaka, my usual night out area. Current Tokyo tap water tastes differently than before and it might be due to my state of mind or dose of active carbon which is increased intentionally by Tokyo water authority (whichever is fine with me).
There is no reason to expose my kid to increased radios, so we do what we can do to avoid it “reasonably”. Evacuation is not reasonable now. In Tokyo, even our attitude is bit cautious. About Fukushima, I am a bit worried about infants and pragnant women. The trouble comes from the safety standards of 1mSV/year. Some say it is too tight, some say the otherwise, and we do not know what is right. Probably there is no such right thing about radios. It is up to each one’s decision (wow, decision!!!).
Personally I think smoking is worse and asbestos is definitely worse (it is scientifically proven bad guys).

Very few of us know much about radiation other than if it doesn’t cause a quick death then it often causes cancer thereby often leading to death. While that is true to an extent it is a quite limited understanding. Here is a little explanation that may shed some light on the subject. It appears to support Wolfgang Weiss.

TG: Thanks. And as Weiss notes, the cancer from Chernobyl was mostly thyroid cancer in children, and almost all of it was cured.

From CTBTO’s web page – they are reporting that Fukushima radios are delivered to the entire northern hemisphere. I do not know if I should appreciate it.
“Unparalleled sensitivity
it can detect a concentration of 0.1 g of radioactive Xenon evenly distributed within the entire atmosphere of the Earth.
A rooftop detector at the CTBTO’s headquarters in Vienna still catches traces of emissions from the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.”
Probably not.
