Japan from the inside out

All you have to do is look (87)

The Pew Global Attitudes Project finds that 85% of Japanese have a favorable view of the United States, ranking them first in the world in the world in this category. In other words, the Japanese have a more favorable view of the U.S. than Americans do, which came in third at 79%.

Perhaps more surprising, the Americans’ view of themselves wasn’t much higher than the French, who ranked fourth at 75%.

I’m not surprised about the American result- the nation is so polarized, with many fearing the direction the nation is going, attributing it to certain groups among their own compatriots.

I assume Kenya is in the top 4 (at the moment) because of the father of Barack Obama. US popularity with Kenya may be ephemeral.

Turkey is at 10% and the bottom of the list? That’s interesting. Turkey is supposed to be more moderate (and one would assume less anti-US) than other Muslim Middle Eastern countries.

Mexico at 52%? It’s NAFTA in no small part that’s responsible for having floated Mexico’s boat (drug violence notwithstanding). Lots of long standing grudges however.
