"I think you will start seeing the political side of the Japan-Korea relationship begin to mature as well if leading Korean presidential candidate Lee Myung-bak is elected. "

Can't agree. For I've read Lee's autobiography when he was a Hyundai man in the early 90's.He was writing about when Hyundai was building one of the two towers of PETRONAS(the other was built by Japanese company) in Kuala Lumpur. That was usual "we-must-beat-Japs-on-anything-anytime-anywhere"crap.
The business remains as usual in both side of the sea of Japan, no matter who would be elected.

<blockquote>Even if Prime Minister Abe actually desists from visiting the Yasukuni Shrine, China will not be able to negotiate a comprehensive resolution of history issues and overall improvement in relation with Japan unless it can credibly commit to stop criticizing Japan's wartime history. The South Koreans, who pledged in writing to do so, couldn't keep their promise because of the same sort of domestic political pressures that roil China. (page 179 "China" Susan L. Shirk. Oxford)<blockquote>
For Chinese and Korean politicians, it seems Japan-related issues are irresistible to mobilize support for themselves as strong leaders or to divert attention from difficult domestic problems.

I hope the joint lecture course will succeed and things will change for the better.

>>
This course deals with the current situations and future prospects in the areas of history, politics, economy, industry, commerce, law, education, language, and culture. With this course, we expect the mutual communication and intercultural understandings between the two countries will be further promoted.
>>

Besides the above, the investigation about the present conditions of an emigrant and the crime and the outlook on nation are important, but I'm sorry that they are not included.
And,there is the industry that divided the work according to an American policy, but what will the field that Japan depends on Korea for be?

I think you will start seeing the political side of the Japan-Korea relationship begin to mature as well if leading Korean presidential candidate Lee Myung-bak is elected. He has enough creditability to not have to rely on Japan bashing in order to get votes.

However, I would not put it past the ruling liberals currently in power to pull the typical Japan bashing card out of their playbook in order to get votes before the election.
