okay first off, PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE... and just because you've had one bad experience with a korean doesn't mean that all koreans are "Egotistical Bullshit". I think its just a matter of how that person are raised up. Also, like you said yourself, Kimmora Lee Simmons IS part Black, Korean, and Japanese. that does not mean she is rude because she is korean or japanese or even black, but maybe because all her fame makes her think like she's above everyone else. Another thing i would like to bring up is that wouldn't all mothers be protective of their children ESPECIALLY if they are disabled?? think about it...
I feel that a person should not be quickly judged just because you think everyone is the way you think they are. I know plenty of Rude, Selfish koreans but ALSO Kind, considerate ones, them being the majority. So i wouldnt be quick to judge just bause of one instance and a REALITY SHOW...
How would you feel if someone said that (whatever race you are)are Drunks and Crazy just becuase that person watched the real world or some other over the top reality show that made someone who was the same race as you look bad?

I knew a Korean woman who rejected anything that seemed remotely abnormal. She was hypercritical of me and my family, and only stayed friends with me as long as I went along with everything that she said or did. In other words, she felt she was allowed to be rude, and I had to be submissive and put up with her egotistical bullshit. She was a serious control freak who appeared to be on a mission to squash any competition by being an insecure social climber who seemed to have little or no capacity for a meaningful, heartfelt conversation. Her words were very insincere and guarded around whites. I think if by chance this woman were to give birth to a child with a life long physical disfigurement, she just might die of embarrassment. Either that, or she would be over-the-top defensive with a disabled child.
Also, if you want to watch a reality show with the It's-all-about-me Korean influence, just watch Kimmora Lee Simmons show, "Life in the fab lane", shes part black, Korean, and Japanese. While Simmons is a drop-dead-gorgeous model, her attitude reaks of Korean rudeness.

"In Korean culture it is not part of our customs to show respect to strangers "

That is why Koreans are called rude.
Korean president listed 'Reducing Korea-hater' as nation wide theme.
http://www.chosunonline.com/article/20080816000012
He seems aware that Koreans are not welcomed in the world but the people does not so.

Just a comment :D

In Korean culture it is not part of our customs to show respect to strangers or people that we are not close with :/ mmm...because in Korea friendship is a important thing and once you are friends with someone you guys are friends forever!

so its not that we are rude or don't show instant respect to strangers its just part of culture.

How about coffee break: Chinese way of associating with Koreans.

Surely I have heard Koreans ask the age of opponent when they are involved in a quarrel with stranger as if the older is telling the younger to compromise from Confucianism view point.

Koreans are certainly very rude. Whether you speak Korean or English, you will very very rarely here them say please, hello or thank you. It is common knowledge (this is supported by academic inquiry) that it was Korean rudeness that was one element that provoked the LA riots - their inability to say hello. thank you, use peoples' names or engage in small talk, went down like a cup of warm sick in LA - this is why virtually every Korean store in areas around the riots were looted and burned.
I won't even get into spitting, littering, attitudes to foreigners, women or even each other. Koreans are rude - but it's not their fault - they know no better, therefore it would wrong to punish anyone for their Koreaness.

"Just don’t get too serious. Many of the commentators there are not."

It's only a blog. So I wan't take it too sereiously.

"It’s probably the #1 East Asian blog where people shoot out f-words at each other."

Well, yeah. Apparantly, They moderate on a very modest level, recently. Its a pitty.

The Marmot's Hole does serve its purpose of drawing up more anti-Japan hatred. It's pretty clear that's what he wants.

The Korean trolls must be reveling in orgasmic frenzy and ecstasy now that they have a playground all to themselves.

Anyway, it has some influence among blogs concerning East Asia, and I will say sticking around would be also very valuable because of that.

Just don't get too serious. Many of the commentators there are not. It's probably the #1 East Asian blog where people shoot out f-words at each other. For them, Japan is a joke. Trying to make your point will likely have the opposite effect, especially when they sense you're Japanese.

"Although I won’t use the same kind of expression as you, I agree that he bans any commentators throwing the slightest racial epithet at Koreans, while the same thrown at other nationals are quite tolerated, which so happens to be mostly Japanese. "

To some degree I share your feelings, but it is a blog about Korea, and it would have its bias as much as many blogs concerning about Japan has.

Anyway, it has some influence among blogs concerning East Asia, and I will say sticking around would be also very valuable because of that.

Because of his influence, it is necessary to try to correct what is apparently wrong or misunderstood from a Japanese view point. And from my personal experience, they will listen to you (or at least trying to listen), when you argue calm and logicaly even if the tone is sometimes very heated.

Enough off topic.

David, are you really a Chinese? Somewhat I don't believe you.
Anyway, it is also true that attitude and ettiquete change with economic fortunes and accumulating self reliance.

Recently, I had a chance to reread Barabara Tuchman's "The Guns of August", and the germans (at least in her book) are just like todays chinese or Korean. Full of inferiority complex, and therefore very aggressive, and also acting very childish (although every nation who participated in this war were very "childish" from todays standard).

And I believe that the Japanese were also not that different from them untill recently.
